Australia or Canada – Where will you study this year?

Study in Austrelia/Canada

Do you have enough time to finalize your study destination? Is it Australia or Canada that appeals most to you?

Both Canada and Australia have scores of companies to work for. International students can choose from several leading companies, for working after studies or interning, when studying in either Canada or Australia.

Imagine a life – when you look outside your window, you see only snow! Snow becomes the only thing credible in your life. You step outside in the snow and grab a coffee at Starbucks or all you do is snuggle inside your warm blanket and spend the entire day reading.

Imagine another life – When you step outside, you see wild animals and forests galore. You want to experience the Phylum Arthropoda, and marsupial animals that keep hopping and popping around you. And you want to be out there and experience the ‘wild’ life that you often have seen on National Geographic or Animal Planet.

If you were to lead one life, which one would you choose? Which one appeals more to you? Let me know the reason.

Simply put, why do you prefer to study in Australia or Canada?

The general perception behind more international students moving to Canada, for the past few years, is due to the infamous ‘Trump’ effect. But there are other reasons why many international students prefer Canada for their overseas studies. Similarly, international students prefer higher education in Australia for several reasons. Diversity, quality of education, employability options and post-study work options are the main reasons why international students choose Canada and Australia for their studies.

So the major differences between studying in Canada and studying in Australia are as follows:

Academic requirements
In most Canadian institutions, applications are accepted from international students who have had 12 years of schooling. To apply for management degree programmes, students must take up GMAT and for engineering programmes, students need to take up GRE exams.

Also, a common English language assessment criterion is IELTS exam, which students need to take up. Most Canadian institutes demand a minimum 6.0 IELTS band from Indian students.
In Australia, most institutes accept 12 years of pre-university education for undergraduate admissions. For postgraduate admissions, Australian institutes ask for a minimum 3-year UG degree as a prerequisite.

Students might need to take up GMAT or GRE based on the programme they enrol for at Australian universities. And IELTS or TOEFL could be waived off at certain universities, depending on the course choice and qualification of students. Exams like PTE and CAE are given equal weightage at some institutes in Australia when accepting applications from Indian students.

The infamous phrase from Game of Thrones ’winter is coming’ applies to Canada. When it’s winter in Canada, it means you should be ready to face adversity in your life. The harsh winter in Canada is a testing time for many, who would have earlier boasted of spending great amount of time swimming in cold waters of the sea.

In Australia, the climate varies from location to location. The northern region of Australia experiences a tropical climate, quite similar to the Indian climate, with hot, humid summer and warm, dry winter. On the other hand, the southern region experiences mild summers and cool, sometimes rainy, winters.
