Being a Doctor; Dream that stays little longer than forever

It is said that we are made of actually made up with million dreams. Maybe, lots of time it has remembered in life.

Dr. Gulame Nasir is a medical officer in Occupational and Health in Reliance Industry. Like many others, he had a  dream of being a doctor from his childhood, but the difference is that he took a long journey  with his dream. Life is not a smooth journey; there is prevention, obstacles, but there is some journey that makes it worthwhile, there are some memories that gives a new dimension towards life. Maybe, that memory is the brightest one when he went to study medical in Ukraine. He himself said: '' This is the most significant event of my life when my parents relied on me and decided to send me Ukraine for completing my MBBS. I have a dream to become a doctor and my grandfather also hold a dream; but the extensive support of my parents towards my dream is something that is very precious.''

He mentioned his connection with Mr. Somesh Khandelwal who gives the wings to his dream and suggest him to go to abroad to pursue his medical study in Ukraine. He approached by Mentor and soon he got admitted to the country; Ukraine and started having Ukraine education.

So how was your experience in Ukraine?

It is good; in fact too good that the six years passed so quickly. I come back in India after six years for doing the internship. It was such a journey that is worthy to remember.

Did you feel homesick there?

The main benefit of Ukraine is, it is a very friendly country. The people of Ukraine are very friendly and co-operative. I can particularly remember Ivan sir, for his extensive caring touch for all of us. From Language learning to personal conflict; we get his supportive hands there. We were happy there within all the caring touch.

Tell me about your academic journey in Bukovinian State Medical University. How is the structure of study?

Firstly the positive thing is that Ukraine follows a methodical ways of learning. It is flexible, friendly but very methodical. In India, we often need to witness the conflict between senior VS junior; but in Ukraine; this is completely opposite. The atmosphere is very friendly and moreover, our teachers are very supportive, helpful and they too are very affectionate towards us. We get the special classes; that means if you miss any class;  you have the benefit to attend the class again. This process is really beneficial for its flexibility.

I must say that education system is very easy in Ukraine. Our college conducts daily exam and it follows the methodical learning to memorize the revision part. As well, there are three kinds of exam we all need to give such as theory, practical and viba. Viba is comparatively tougher to us than theory and practical.

Apart from this, we need to give Krok exam; an examination on general scientific disciplines. It is a state level exam. Third stage is conducted in 1st year and second stage is in 6th year. We need to give only one trial in 6th year.

So when you come back to India?

I admitted there in September 2012, and I come back from there in May 2016.

Tell me your staying in Ukraine.

The atmosphere in Ukraine is pleasant. People are very friendly and weather is good in summer. It is approx. 28degree in summer; but in winter it gets chilled. Most of the people in Ukraine is non-vegetarian; yet if you have your arrangement for cooking; you don’t need to face any changes. One plus point of Ukraine is that Ukraine has a large Indian community and people are very fond of Indian culture; especially Indian movie.

It seems that he is taking a walk down memory lane, the left back period and the student life which is one of the memorable phase in life. “I came to India for internship and right now I am a medical officer in Reliance Group. I witnessed there is lots of flexibility in study, culture, manners in Ukraine. In India, the need of a doctor is very high as population is high in India. Also, there are some constraints that affect common people's life such as too hot weather, mosquito and moreover stress. Do you know that 41% of diabetic people in world are from India? The daily complexity is high in India; so this is a learning place. A doctor gets his full experience when he starts clinical practice in India.

Dr. Gulame Nasir is currently pursuing his PG from MS University. Profoundly, he thanked his father Gulam Khwaja and mother Ruksana for becoming a pillar of his success.

We, the team of #BookMyAdmission, an initiative from Mentor wishes all the very best for his coming period!

Thank you...
